Mountaineering and Trekking
Island Rab
The highest point of the island Rab is Tinjarosa (kamenjak), with the height of 408mnv. Kamenjak is a reef relief structure made up of limestone and starts at the most southern peak of the Cape Glavina and ends at the Cape Jorinj on the structure. The northern part of the Velebit channel is made up of very steep and dangerous cliffs with a 55 degree inclination and cracks in limestone, with a few caves and pits. Like most other islands, Rab has miles of stone walls, which are used to show the border between lots. Some of these walls are up to 2m tall and 1 m wide, the most interesting parts of the wall are built on the very end of the cliffs. Our guides are experienced and know every part of this fascinating hill, but still discover something new and interesting every time, such as caves, pits, and springs of water (there are about 300). Different shapes of cliffs will trigger your imagination and rare scenes of rare trees which will bring out your respect towards nature and you will experience the power of the northern wind Bura. For trekking tours we’ve chosen around 150 km of trail throughout the whole island, and Mount Kamenjak for mountain climbing. We also have mountain-climbing and trekking tours of Velebit that can last one or more days.
Join us in this adventure and you will forget about all your problems and relax your body and soul.
Velebit Mountain
Velebit is the longest (145 km) mountain in Croatia, with a width of 10-30 km. It’s surface is 2200 km2, the highest point is peak Vagan (1757 m/nv ). The whole area around the mountain is a preserved nature park, and Northern Velebit and Paklenica are proclaimed national parks. Inside the National Park Velebit there are preserved strict reservations called Hajducki and Rozanski kukovi. The tours of Velebit can last for one or more days/nights at mountaineer hostels. The most common tours we have are of the reconstructed Premuzic Path (trail) that was built between the two World Wars, from Zavizan to Alan and from Alan to Baske Ostarije, we visit all of southern and central Velebit. Walking along these paths we have a beautiful view of Kvarner the islands Rab, Pag, Krk and Cres, and of the smaller islands in their aquatorium. Taking this path, we pass by peaks Veliki Zavizan (1676), Gromovaca (1676), Vratarski Kuk, Crikvena (1641), Goli Vrh, Zecjak (1622), Visibaba, Satorina, Budakovo Brdo, Bacic Kuk and Kiza. We are also taking you on tours of south Velebit, parts of National Park Paklenica which covers a surface of 92km2 with the highest peaks being Vaganski Vrh (1757) and Sveto Brdo (1753). The area was named a national park in 1949 and it is enriched with flora and fauna, it also has many caves, streams, villages and mountaineer hostels. If you decide on the Velebit adventure, you won’t regret it. The only thing you will regret is staying on this magical mountain only one day.
